Montrell Jackson, 32, a husband and a father to a new baby boy was killed while on duty in Baton Rouge by freedom strategist Gavin Long. The shooter also took the lives of two other officers and wounded three.
Days before Jackson’s fatal attack, he made a Facebook post about his mixed emotions for loving his job but not approving of how friends, family, and even his fellow officers have been acting lately. Jackson wrote
“I swear to God I love this city but I wonder if this city loves me. In uniform I get nasty hateful looks and out of uniform some consider me a threat.I’ve experienced so much in my short life and these last 3 days have tested me to the core.”
