A growing number of students at Brownsville Academy High School have been suspended or reprimanded for behavioral issues. Instead of keeping them out of class as punishment, the school has added a new feature to the building aim to help them relax and get to a “happy place.”

Reported on News12 “the nonprofit Made in Brownsville designed the space based on a Japanese tea room, split into sections – one for lounging, one for solitary meditation, and a larger communal space.”

The students will be able to enjoy the meditation room after Thanksgiving.
