“I am a marvelous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man, I keep his house.” ~Zsa Zsa Gabor
With Christmas just a few days away, it’s crunch time to figure out the perfect gift for your bae if you haven’t already. How much to spend, what to get, and should you get something for their family are questions that a lot of people find themselves asking.
During the latest live episode of Love Soldiers hosted by Lisa Evers who reports exclusively for Fox5 and Hot97, “Holiday Gifts” was the topic. Lisa alongside the Fox5 #newzgirlz came up with some awesome ideas for all of the true love soldiers out there.
The two most important rules for holiday gift giving is to always have a gift on hand and always being thankful for whatever you receive. If you’re with a new boo or if you’ve been dating for a few months, have spare gift just in case they give you something. Wait to see if they have a present for you before you give them their gift so that if they didn’t you can return it. (This isn’t petty, this is survival)
In the case where you do exchange gifts but you don’t like what they give you, as Lisa says, “put on your love soldiers game face,” be gracious and show appreciation. As the relationship progresses you can give them clues to the things that you like.
One of the viewers Rolando Martinez Jr. believes that it’s the thought that counts. Yes, this is true, but make sure you put thought into the gift. Personalized gifts like a custom blanket, a cashmere scarf, jewelry such as earrings or bracelets, gift cards to his or her favorite places, beats speakers, or a sexy dinner will suffice as the perfect present for your special loved one.
John A. Scott wanted to know if a trip to Hawaii would be a good idea and Lisa and the newzgirlz can all agree that’s an awesome gift. Even if the relationship is new, if you’re ready to spend alone time with your significant other, a vacation is the perfect opportunity to do so.
A mistake that guys often make is either going overboard or not doing enough when it comes to gift giving. Keep in mind, women prefer things that are tangible so we can show it off to our friends.
Ladies if this is your first time meeting his family and your wondering if you should bring gifts for them the answer is yes! Desserts such as a Christmas cookie platter or a bottle of champagne or wine is a great gift that everyone can enjoy. Remember, you don’t want to go empty handed and even if your on a budget you can find something that’s within your limit. Unless you’re married or have been with your significant other for a long time, stay away from expensive gifts for the family. It’ll look like you’re trying to buy their affection.
Emotions tend to run high during the holidays so as always don’t forget that simple acts of kindness can go a long way. Money isn’t everything, but family and being thankful for what you have is.
