No one can say Jay Z doesn’t care about the youth, young black men especially.

Earlier this year Sean Carter alongside the Weinstein Company told the story of  Kalief Browder in a documentary TV series. The six episodes tells the sad, heartbreaking story of Browder who spent three years at New York City’s Rikers Island jail without being convicted of a crime.

At only 17-years-old, he was arrested for a robbery that he didn’t commit. During his time in jail, he spent about two years in solitary confinement where he attempted to take his life several times.

Jay Z is teaming up with the Weinstein Company again to create a documentary about Tayvon Martin to expose the truth about his tragic death. Back in 2012 Martin, 16-years-old, was shot and killed by George Zimmerman after an altercation between them went wrong. Martin was unarmed and lived on the property where Zimmerman claimed he was intruding. Zimmerman was acquitted of all his charges.

Reported on The Root, the documentary about Martin will be a six-part miniseries that explores his life before and after he was killed by Zimmerman. “The projects will be based on two books: Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice and Why We Continue to Repeat It by Lisa Bloom and Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin, which was written by Trayvon’s parents.” (Source)
