A Baltimore police officer is suspended w/ pay after this viral video shows him repeatedly punching a man to the ground. ABC reports, “the suspect was approached by officers working ‘a special cross borders crime initiative’ and asked to provide identification. Police said the situation ‘escalated’ when the man refused to show ID.”
Police Commissioner Gary Tuggle of the Baltimore PD said he was ‘deeply disturbed’ by the video. The commissioner also said they’ll be reviewing the officer’s body camera. The officer and the victim had a previous encounter in June which led to the man getting beat up in the video charged with assaulting the officer, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
