Get On Ya Job: Parents are FED UP with NYC yellow school bus companies. The buses serve 150,000 kids including about 100,000 kids with special needs. Within a week of school starting, the customer complaint line received over 52,000 calls. In one district, 55 parents were frustrated at busses not showing up or coming late.
One sixth grader, Bertram Ford dealt with his bus not showing up for two days in a row and then when it did, went on a 4-hour detour! Another bus was spotted on the side of the road with a broken taillight. A spokesperson from the bus company said, “we’ve worked with bus companies throughout the holiday weekend and have improved service, but we apologize for any continued delays and take this seriously.”
