People are outraged after seeing footage of a New York Police Officer using excessive force to enforce the social distancing order.
Over the weekend, plainclothes NYPD officers broke up a large gathering of people not following the social distancing rule. One of the cops, Francisco Garcia, dragged a man to the ground, which can be seen in a video. The incident happened on May 2 around 5 pm in East Village on Avenue D and 9th Street.
A few minutes after the shakedown, the crowd started getting upset and shouted “excessive force.” Then another bystander, Donni Wright, 33, got punched in the head by Garcia after Wright asked him what did the other man do? “He didn’t do anything,” Wright said. Garcia punched him again and again until he dragged him to the sidewalk and put him in handcuffs.
Reported on Daily Mail, “Wright was arrested on charges of assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. The charges have been deferred pending further investigation, a Manhattan District Attorney’s Office spokesperson said.” Garcia was put on desk duty and his gun and badge have been taken away.
You can see in the video some of the officers weren’t wearing a mask, which is required. Take a look:

Several people reached out to me last night about this. It’s in Manhattan, and the young brother you see on the ground was simply a witness to the horrible case of police brutality at the beginning of the video. Mind you, 7,000 NYPD officers are out sick with the coronavirus and they are STILL out on the streets without masks and gloves. So when this young man walks up to check on the kids that were being brutalized, THIS OFFICER, with the Yankees cap, immediately begins firing his Taser, then starts punching and brutalizing the man who was UNARMED and non-violent and broke no laws. You can’t even say he interfered with a crime scene because he wasn’t even close to the kids. What this officer did here is illegal. When a cop punches and brutalizes someone, it’s just assault. They don’t have special punching privileges. When he is ramming this man’s head into the concrete, just because he likes it, that’s just assault. WHAT IS HIS NAME? WHAT IS HIS BADGE NUMBER? Meanwhile, on the other side of town, our Fox 5/Street Soldiers reporter posted a video of a crowd of people not following social distancing orders, but nothing was done.

#socialdistancing ? So let me get this straight… today I witnessed a small & orderly press conference for media only – not public – being ordered to stop by police(but they did allow the speeches to finish) but I just saw this impromptu block party with people in the streets of a major crosstown bus route in Manhattan & no problem…. ? #justasking #hot97 @hot97 #fox5ny @fox5ny What do you see where you are? 😷
