Shawn Jay-Z Carter is making sure black entrepreneurs don’t lose their businesses due to COVID-19. According to a nationwide study, 45% of black business owners are at risk of closing down due to the economic impact of the pandemic.
Reported on Black Enterprise, Jay Z alongside his company Roc Nation purchased a bunch of full-page ads in newspapers across the country highlighting Black businesses. Multiple black-owned companies were featured in The New York Times, The Denver Post, The Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Austin American Statement, The Orlando Sentinel, and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The ads are for a range of products such as food, fashion, beauty, plumbing, auto, and more. According to the report, Hov wants to reiterate the message that there is power in black voices, actions, and wallets. Roc Nation is committed to supporting the black community and is challenging everyone to do the same.
