G Herbo wants to help young black people manage their stress and trauma!

Reported on Complex, the east side Chicago rapper partnered with Audiomack, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and Innopsych to launch a new program called Swervin’ Through Stress

Innopsych’s platform focuses on diminishing the stigma of mental health in urban communities. Only one out of every three African-Americans who need mental health care can receive it. The mission of the new program is to connect Black young adults with therapeutic resources that help inform and improve their mental health in pursuit of a better quality of life.

Swervin’ Through Stress’ Dream Team Therapy Fund will give three months of free therapy sessions to black youths across the nation between the ages 18-25. There’s also a hotline available to match patients with an appropriate therapist.

The organizations made a smart move working with G Herbo, as the 24-year-old rapper is transparent about his struggles with PTSD from growing up in the rough streets of Chicago. Earlier this week G Herbo spoke on a virtual mental health panel alongside Saweetie, City Girls, Wale, NLE Choppa, and NAMI CEO Dan Gillison.
