Busta Rhymes is taking us on a trip down memory lane.
Living legend and OG Busta Rhymes interviewed with 85 South Show and spoke on his hip hop upbringing and fast rapping skills. However, before Busta became who he is today, like every artist, he was still trying to find his sound when he was in high school.
Jay-Z and Busta Buss went to the same high school and during the interview, Busta said one day he and Hov battled against each other. At this time, while Busta was still developing his craft, Hov already had his in the bag and was a little more advanced. Busta admitted that Hov “got the best of him,” and he lost against the Roc Nation CEO.
“Ultimately, Hov got the best of the battle in that moment. I was just starting to figure out how to master my fascination with the speed rap. He was already on it. He was doin’ it at an incredible level of skillset. And was displayin’ that s*** like — water spillin’ all over the place. Just takin’ shape and form whatever way he felt like it ’cause he had been on his shit with it.”
Busta said he always wanted a rematch, but it never happened. Busta said, “It didn’t happen which was fine because I ended up getting my skillset developed to the point where I don’t think nobody want to fuck with a n***a now.” Take a look:
Just for fun, would you want to see the two veteran rappers go for a “lunchtime high school” battle, maybe a special edition of Verzuz?
Busta is gearing up to drop his upcoming album, Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God. Last month, Busta and Anderson Paak teamed up on “YUUUU.”
