2021 had a rough start for Dr. Dre but he’s thankfully pulling through.
On January 4, the living icon was rushed to the hospital and then the ICU after suffering from a brain aneurysm. The news shocked the hip-hop community and he was showered with an outpour of love.
He let fans know that he was doing well shortly a day after the news was announced. On Dre’s Instagram, he said,
“Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes. I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!”
Pitchfork reports Dre has been released from the hospital and can continue to recover at home. He’s still battling a nasty divorce from his estranged wife, Nicole Young.
While he was in the ICU, reports came out that she accused Dre of putting a gun to her head twice and punched her in the face twice, according to court documents. She also claimed he kicked down a door and he was verbally/emotionally abusive and she suffers from PTSD. She claims she never reported the abuse because she was afraid. Dre has denied ever being abusive toward Nicole.
However, Dre has a history of being abusive toward women. A television host Dee Barnes and Dre’s ex Michel’le Denise Toussant both claimed Dre put hands on them.
