We are sending love and light to QUEEN Serena Williams.
Unfortunately, she was forced to withdraw from her tennis match.
During her first set of her Round 1 match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Serena slipped on the grass while planting one of her legs and injured her knee. She left briefly to seek medical attention from a trainer, returned, attempted to finish the match but couldn’t. The tennis champion broke down in tears and then fell to the ground due to the pain in her knee. She looked devastated and left the court.
Serena decided to withdraw from Wimbledon. She received a well-deserved standing ovation from the crowd. Take a look at a clip shared by The Neighborhood Talk blog:
She penned a heartfelt message on Instagram. It says,
“I was heartbroken to have to withdraw today after injuring my right leg. My love and gratitude are with the fans and the team who make being on center court so meaningful. Feeling the extraordinary warmth and support of the crowd today when I walked on – and off – the court meant the world to me.” Take a look:
Yahoo Sports points out this is the second time in her career she was forced to retire. The other time was 23 years ago, ironically at Wimbledon.
We are praying for a full/speedy recovery!
