The smoke will NEVER clear!
One of Pop Smoke’s alleged killers, Corey Walker, initially faced the death penalty, but he’s not anymore.
As reported on sources, Deputy DA Hilary Williams said, “Our office is not going to be seeking death on this case, but we are going to be asking for a lot.”
NYDN points out Walker appeared in court for re-arraignment but didn’t enter a new plea due to a system glitch that’s prosecutors from filing paperwork. Walker was scheduled for the next court hearing on Wednesday (July 7), but it’s getting pushed back to next month. Walker’s lawyer, Christopher Darden, told the news,
“I am glad to hear the DA say this formally on the record, Corey Walker does not have an adult criminal history. He was 19 years old, not armed with a firearm and he did not shoot anyone. I don’t think the death penalty would be a fair or suitable punishment in this case.”
Four suspects are facing charges. Christopher was arrested for murder and robbery. The other three suspects’ identities haven’t been revealed because they’re juveniles.
On February 19, 2020, Pop was killed when armed intruders busted through the second-floor balcony of his Hollywood Hills Airbnb mansion around 4:00 a.m. P.T. Pop was reportedly in the shower when the intruders came in.
A new Pop Smoke album is underway, set to be released on July 16.
