Haitian First Lady, Martine Moise, Is Alive & Recovering In U.S, Despite Reports Saying She Succumbed To Gun Shot Wounds

Several overseas outlets reported that Haiti’s First Lady, Martine Moise, passed away but it’s not true. She’s reportedly in stable condition. 

As reported on Reuters, she’s recovering in Florida after armed gunman broke into her home in Haiti and Assassinated her husband, Haiti’s president, Jovenel Moïse.

Martine was airlifted from Haiti via Trinity Air Ambulance and arrived in Florida at approximately 3:30 p.m on Wednesday, WPLG Local 10 and the Miami Herald reported. 

She was then transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital to treat gunshot wounds to her arms and thigh, per WPLG Local 10. At the time of her arrival, officials told the outlet the First Lady was in stable but critical condition.

The White House agreed to send aid to Haiti during this time, 

President Joe Biden spoke out on Twitter and said, “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the horrific assassination of President Jovenel Moïse and the attack on First Lady Martine Moïse of Haiti. We condemn this heinous act — and stand ready to assist as we continue to work for a safe and secure Haiti.”
