Good news? I guess…
The MTA is holding off a planned fare hike until 2022. Keep in mind, the new year is about six months away!
New York City straphangers won’t have to face planned subway fare hikes until at least 2022, the head of the MTA’s Finance Committee announced Monday.
Metropolitan Transportation Authority Finance Committee Chairman Larry Schwartz said the fare increase for mass transit riders will be pushed back until at least next year as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to hammer New York’s economy.
“There’s not going to be a fare hike in 2021, period,” Schwartz said following a meeting of the MTA’s Finance Committee. “There might be a fare hike in 2022.”
